Cottage living comes with modern amenities

284-unit development on Osoyoos Lake includes a sandy beach, walking trails and a clubhouse

Those shopping for vacation property in the Okanagan — or simply seeking some interior design inspiration — may want to head to Oliver, where four new show homes are opened for viewing at The Cottages on Osoyoos Lake. The lakefront development, an undertaking from the Van Maren Group of Companies, features the work of award-winning architect Bryce Rositch and of KC Interior Design.

The 284-unit cottage project, with prices that run from $295,000 to $900,000, includes 1,500 feet of waterfront, 500 feet of sandy beach, two swimming pools, a 7,000-square-foot clubhouse, eight hectares of lawn, walking trails and boat slips. The 28-hectare property is near wineries that include Burrowing Owl, Tinhorn Creek and Road 13. Cottages range from 930 to 2,250 square feet.

Located on a secluded cove on the north end of the lake, “this development offers an alternative to the apartment-style condos often associated with recreational and retirement properties,” said a prepared release on the project. “If you’re living in a condo in Burnaby or Calgary, why would you want to go on vacation in Osoyoos and end up in another condo?” developer Eric Van Maren said.

“That’s one of our biggest selling features: detached waterfront homes.” The sales centre, located at 2450 Inkaneep Rd. in Oliver, is open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., every day but Sunday. For more information, visit osoyooscottages.com or call 1-855-742-5555.
