Designer Teams Up with Danish Retailer
Karim Rashid’s Ottawa Collection goes back 30 years to design-school roots in capital
The home-décor creations of renowned designer Karim Rashid will be on offer in mid- March, when his new line of furniture and accessories will be unveiled at BoConcept. Rashid’s line, called the Ottawa Collection, includes a dining room set with table, chairs, sideboard and cabinet, and accessories designed to complement the set.
“The dining table features a soft slanting under-skirting and leg clusters that make it welcoming,” says a prepared release from BoConcept, in announcing the collaboration between designer and Danish retailer. “Inspired by nature, the dining chair celebrates the welcome simplicity of the leaf that creates an elegant cross-table profile when pushed in, and like the table, sits on a forest of legs, perfect for tucking in your feet.”
Accessories include a bold black and white fingerprint rug, puzzle-shaped vases, a futuristic, bright orange pendant lamp, and a set of cups, espresso cups and rimmed saucers that celebrate the art of the New York designer. “With the Ottawa Collection,” Rashid said in the release, “I have taken a journey back to my roots 30 years ago, when I graduated from design school in Ottawa.”
Rashid is considered one of the most prolific designers of his generation, with over 3,000 designs in production. His work is featured in 200 permanent collections and galleries worldwide.
BoConcept has 340 stores around the world. In Vancouver, it’s located at 1275 West 6th Avenue.
