Golf tournaments were among the money-raising events that have enabled industry members to donate significant sums to BCIT scholarships and to Children’s Hospital.
The 2011 Fishing For Kids tournament, organized by the West Coast Fishing Club, has raised more than $3 million to date for the B.C. Children’s Hospital, the Canucks Autism Network and other local charities. This year’s trip raised an unprecedented $826,000. - Concert Properties’ annual golf tournament at Quilchena Golf & Country Club raised $140,000 toward the British Columbia institute of Technology Trades Discovery Sponsorship program. Various Concert initiatives over the past nine years have contributed more than $1.1 million in support of BCIT students in programs related to the construction industry. - The Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association hosted 288 golfers at its Fall Classic Golf Tournament, presented by FortisBC at Northview Golf and Country Club. Part-proceeds from the funds raised at the tournament will be presented as scholarships to students at the BCIT Carpentry Framing and Forming program.
- Al Pattison, of Kitchen Korner, and author and designer Ellen Cheever, whose presentation ‘How to make a good kitchen great’ was hosted in the Jennair Experience Studio at Coast Wholesale Appliances in Surrey.
- Sutton Group West Coast Realty’s annual barbecue raised funds for the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund. Centre; Captain Jordan Sparrow accepts a cheque from Rick Taron and Donna Rogers of West Coast Realty, Langley office.
