Silver Ridge Keeps Winning Awards
Take 150 acres of forested groves and babbling creeks in Maple Ridge with views from the Golden Ears Mountains through to Westwood Plateau. Protect more than 40 per cent of the area as green space, then find one of the Lower Mainland’s top builders to create an award-winning, master-planned community. Welcome to Silver Ridge and to Portrait Homes. Not only has Portrait been judged the province’s best builder in six of the past seven years, but with the results of the 2011 Georgie Awards recently announced, the company has been honoured with the elite Platinum Award, given only to those who have won 25 or more Gold Georgie Awards.
Portrait also won Large Volume Single Family Home Builder of the Year, as well as two of the prestigious Customer Choice awards, for Single Family Production Builder and Multi Family Production Builder, awards in which homeowners and renovation clients themselves judge who’s best in B.C. though an independent, third-party poll. In a letter to homeowners following the Georgie Awards, Portrait principal Rob Grimm wrote: “I would like to let you know that we will not rest on our laurels and we will continually strive to improve our homes, our service to our clients and our overall customer experience.”
All the long hours and late nights have all been worth it.
The latest phase of Silver Ridge — Hampstead — 73 single-family homes, was released Jan. 21 and already 10 have sold. Designed with spacious backyards and distinctive, West Coast Whistler-inspired exteriors, they feature custom exterior rock detailing and natural-stained cedar beams. Grimm describes Hampstead as “one of the best phases in Silver Ridge, a really special part of the community. It has a gently sloping, pastoral feel to it with beautiful sequoias and other gorgeous trees.”
The District of Maple Ridge refers to Hampstead as a true eco-cluster, Grimm says, given its low density and with every home fronting and backing on to greenbelt. Ever since Silver Ridge opened in July 2004, it has been winning awards, an impressive 103 at last count. Portrait is also in the running this year for Best Community Award and a Grand SAM Award, the results to be announced by the CHBA today. Of course, Silver Ridge is only one of a number of Portrait’s successful, master-planned neighbourhoods. Legends, in Surrey, was a multiple award winner as was Autumn Woods in Coquitlam. In September, the company’s 91-townhouse community – Panorama Woods — will open in Surrey’s West Panorama area.
The Georgie Awards gala last month was an evening of celebration for the Portrait team, both for the Platinum Award (only the third builder to receive it, in addition to MAC Marketing Solutions), but even more significant, the Customer Choice awards. “Those are the most important ones,” Grimm says. “Those are the ones we want and getting them for both Single Family and Multi Family Production Builder was absolutely fantastic. The Platinum was like the icing on the cake. To be in the same arena as ParkLane and Adera, who have been building for a very long time and are large companies, it makes you feel good; all the long hours and late nights have all been worth it.”
